Elle,
If it's *that* big, I think you ought to take Claire's advice and see
if the contractor could give you some backhoe help. Rhodies have
*relatively* shallow root systems, but you will find that a shrub
this large has one that is beyond lifting by 3 humans, if an adequate
rootball is taken. Not only that, the shrub, itself, is going to be
extremely heavy...wood is heavy.
When you get it out of the ground, try to cover that rootball with a
damp sheet or other fabric to keep it from drying out between its
site and your house and have the place you want to put it ready and
waiting.
If you could get backhoe help, they could lift it and move it and set
it in place for you - getting it upright from a lying flat position
will be a challenge!
