Don,
If this is a straight species R. moyesii raised from seed, it could
indeed be dark pink instead if the red you were looking for. There are
named varieties, 'Geranium' (seems to be the most well known)and
'Highdownensis', that are from cuttings and are red in color.
Vintage Gardens has descriptions, but no pics, of both on their site.
