RE: Sedums for shade

Nancy, I could do sedums under my pines couldn't I? I want all that to be
pretty under there. There has to be something we can plant under there so I
can have pretties in the back yard so see.

Subject: Sedums for shade

Hi Karen,
Like others have mentioned, I find there are many Sedums happy in the dry
shade beneath my tall Douglas Fir trees. Even the tall Sedums such as
Autumn Joy, Carmen, Brilliant, Matrona & Frosty Morn grow and bloom well.
Granted, they don't stand as straight, but I've seen Autumn Joy flopping in
full sun too. Our native Sedum is very small with silvery gray petals and
bright yellow flowers in the shade.
If you have limited sun (as I do) try a dish garden. I started with a 12"
round terra cotta pot saucer filled with cactus mix and pinches from friends
Sedums and now have a nice full dish of many shapes and colors that sits on
a table on my deck in the sun. I can't help but smile when I look at it, it
is so cheerful.
