Thanx for responding, Paul.
But I can't find any pictures by that name.
I haven't been able to find pictures of everything suggested but, so far, 
Frank's suggestion of Senecio glabellus, butterweed 
looks the most like what I am seeing. I'll have to find a patch where I can 
stop and get a look at it close up. I'm not sure I want to risk stopping 
along the Interstate.
