Thanks everyone for identifying the Valerian for me. I
went outside to have a sniff and sure enough it has a
pleasant scent.

Now I have 2 OT garden questions.
The first is about snakes. Saw a garden snake the
other day and about gave me a coronary. Now all
animals are welcome to my yard including snakes. But
that doesn't neccessarily mean that I need to see
them.LOL Anyway the question is, I just put in a half
barrel water feature and wondered if the water inticed
the snake into the yard. I saw him right next to the
barrel and then he went undeneath the deck of the
house.

Second question has to do with P.G. hydrangea. I just
planted 1 last year and of course didn't have any
blooms on it. Being my first hydrangea I don't know
when to expect the flower heads to form. If I'm not
seeing anything yet is it okay or should I not expect
any flowers again this year :(

Thanks for letting me go off the perennial topic.
