Susan,

You don't have to wait for grandchildren.  One of the people who
posts to my Suite discussions semi-regularly made a small pond and
around it put in a 'fairy' garden...all small to tiny plants.  Then,
of course, if you get hooked on alpines and rock gardens, there's
always the trough garden...everything in troughs is teensy.
