RE: Please Help Identify


No doubt about it - a mulberry tree. There was one in the neighbor's yard
(in n. Illinois) when I was growing up. My mother discouraged us children
from eating them, probably because of the staining, but we did anyway:
sweet, full of seeds, no flavor, and purple fingers for a week. They are
spread by birds, no doubt, and I have read somewhere that these common
mulberries are not the ones used to feed silkworms, unfortunately.
