How has the weather been there in Ohio? I've noticed that extended hot days
and drought often cause my trees to brown and drop some leaves. Maybe check
with your county extension or local nursery people.
And if Dutch Elm disease is just getting around to you, my condolences. I
grew up on a street in Illinois with American Elms from one end to the
other - a lovely green arch over the street which, of course, is no more.
