moving a garden

The one piece of advice I will give you about moving a garden is purchase a CHILD'S SLED (actually several).

I've moved several gardens and needed something I could store pots in that wouldn't leak and could be easily moved. Voila - kid's sleds.

Not the round saucers, the plastic ones shaped like bullets with upright sides. I bought a few at rummage sales for very cheap (a buck or two) and plopped my pots into them whilst digging the plants at the old house and loaded them into the trunk for the trip to the new house.

Once at the new house they could easily be pulled into the garage (out of the sun) or out into the driveway for mass watering and sunlight. Once I determined where the beds would be, I just dragged the sled to the bed and planted them . . . a multi-purpose use for an innocuous object!

If you only spend a buck or two, you can toss them after the plants are in the ground, or give them to the new neighbor kids!

Best of luck with your move!
