Re: Hmmm!Japanese Parsley and more goodies

Well Chris, you've made my day...this is it. I have the purple one, and suspect I'll be happy with it. Went to a garden sale today. Lady is open only 4 weekends per year. Drove there saying to myself "Be good, Be good" Well, I wasn't really bad but managed to limit myself to some yellow Verbascum, a tall fluffy white Persicaria, golden hops, Valerian, etc. Tags and plants are still in the car and will have to stay there until hubby hits the golf course. Need a non rainy day for that to happen though.

Hi Lil,

I'm guessing that you have Cryptotaenia japonica[1]. Is yours purple
or green? The purple-leaved form is actually forma atropurpurea
and seems to do well for me now in sun and shade.

I find seedlings throughout the yard on occassion, but they're never
invasive or overwhelming. They seem to appear where drainage is good.

Probably the best accidental combination was a plant that emerged smack-
dab in the middle of a bed of Oenethera speciosa 'Siskiyou' [2] which
was in front of Spiraea japonica 'Magic Carpet' [3]. The purple
leaves show up nicely against the golden spirea, and since they're not
glossy they complement the pink in the primroses well too!

Chris
