Saw a couple of neat drought resistant type plants in a large business
curb-strip planted by an obvious plant person-it was very unique. Took
a couple bits to Portland Nursery with no luck in getting the name of
the plants. Thought maybe someone here could ID by description only.

Mounding , spreading 10-12" tall, alternate leaves soft, grayish, ferny,
smelled like carrot!, with small buttery white flowers similar to
potentilla but with fewer stamens standing a couple inches above the
foliage. Flowers in small groups on one stem, I believe. Very neat
appearance.
The entire planting was done with the idea of little water, if that
helps.
The other was a Salvia greggii with black stems, very narrow leaves and
dark violet blooms. Looking for the variety name.

Thanks much!
