Re: Astrantia / now veronica

Hi Don and all,

Your 'mystery plant' looked so much like Ranunculus repens 'Buttered
Popcorn' to me that when anemone was agreed upon I had to check to see if
it belonged to the same family -- yes; should have known since I have both.

Speaking of variegation. My vernonica spicatas/longifolias/incanas have
been crossing for years; what seems to be a spicata-like veronica has
turned up with variegation. Some of the leaves are slightly mishaped so I
don't know if the variegation is a product of damage to the plant, or if
it's a sport. I remember being amazed to find several four-petaled
trilliums one spring only to learn that they were probably the result of
chipmunk damage. Has anyone seen a variegated-leafed veronica?
