Yes, aphids and other critters that eat the host hosta can carry a virus to other hostas. I think when in doubt, throw it out. Place a bag over the hosta and do not touch the plant since even that can possibly transmit a virus. Then throw the bagged hosta in the trash.

I need some advice...I noticed that one recently planted Hosta 'Gold
Standard' appears stripey and mottled...all others appear to be normally colored.
Should I be suspicious and dispose of this plant? If a virus, could it spread
to the other Hosta around it? I have never seen this before. Is there a way to
i.d. the odd colorations?
