Don...this is a neat plant and here's a url from Barry Glick's Sunshine  Farm 
for anyone wanting more info on it. An interesting side note: the genus  name 
is an anagram of Asarum.

Looking down on it from your picture, it reminds me of Cornus  canadensis.
