I look forward to the time you can post a pic. Judging from your zone & brief description, my first guess would be that it's a Fargesia, a clumping mountain bamboo.

Hi, everyone!

It would be wonderful if we could post pictures. Would the  pix require a
certain format other than jpg?

Is bamboo considered a perennial or a shrub or a tree? I have a very
well-behaved one that I need help identifying. The stems are gorgeous. It dies 
back in the winter and reaches about 6' by the end of the summer, never
spreading or suckering. I'd love to post a picture if this plant belongs on this 
list.

That's what I thought when I saw  it too.


I don't think any of the hort.net groups allow  attachments.


They don't, but that could be changed.  When we set  these lists up in
1997 (holy cow!) peoples' Internet connections were a  lot slower, so we
put that restriction in place.

If people want to  share photos now I'm cool with that and can make it
work through the  list.     :)
