Kitty,

My martagons just finished up here. I do not have a big collection of them. Only 3 different ones thus far. One is unnamed and another has been with me so long I have lost the name. Only one very expensive and I would have to look that one up... very deep, deep, wine red/black. Claude Sch... something or other. I have them on my lust list for more named ones. Backhouse is one of them.. also species and white blooming. Perhaps more this fall. Would love to find a good wholesaler of martagons that I could afford.

I just added H. Nicholas to my garden this week. Grew it on for a year in a container before transplanting. Put with a hydrangea relative.

...Lilies that do well in some shade are a new fascination the past few years. Same with Hakonechloa ...

My martagon lily is on the verge of putting on a great show.  But Mrs R O Backhouse, after several years bloom, quietly disappeared.

Just got H Nicolas this year.  Green for the first month or so, but just now it's starting to color up.
