Thanks Kitty - Like Gene I'm going to look these up too.  I've had success in shade with G. Philippe Vapelle. Philippe has soft quilted looking gray/green foliage, and says sun to part shade but mine was under a Sambucus in almost all shade and did fine.
Also, one of the ones the speaker talked about for shade was G. Sandrine.  Flowers 2" across, hardy and lovely golden foliage. She showed lovely pictures and I just looked it up.  It may become a must have!

Geranium 'Gerwat' ROZANNE is sort of big and blousey but dependable and I've never seen a seedling.  My three
favorites are

G. wlassovianum
G. renaadii 'Tschelda'
G. x oxonianum 'Wargrave Pink'

I've not seen seedlings from any of these, though they may in some way contribute volunteers that I'm not recognizing.  The Bloody Cranesbills, G sanguineum and the Lancaster version G.s. var striatum are guilty of traveling.  The worst is the variegated G. yoshinoi; it sows itself everywhere.

Had a really interesting speaker at our local Hort. Society meeting this week.  Topic was using Geraniums as a secondary plant, filler, or for foliage colour. Her slides were absolutely great and make me want to add at least one to my new tiny garden. I've had several in the past - Jesters Jacket, Katherine Adele, Biokovo, Samobar, etc.  I would like a sterile one so I don't have to contend with seedling, but really just want great foliage. If I get seedlings, they're easy to pull out.

So which are your favourites? What has been most successful for you?  Can do either sun or shade.
