A suggestion for something nice midsized, yellow, with a mound of
foliage -- but no flowers!
It's Haklonea macra, a most beautiful, bright yellow grass. The foliage
droops (must be a better word for this!) gently, so that the height of
the plant will usually go to about a foot. A mature clump can cover a
space about 18" square (round, of course), after which I suspect it
could benefit from division.
I just love this plant. Actually I have a favorite triad, which includes
the Haklonea, Kirengeshoma palmata, and a small chartreuse-foliaged
hosta whose name escapes me. August Moon maybe?
Cheers!
