I got these from White Flower Farm and was successful over one winter so
far. I stored them in a cold area 45-60 F with fairly good light. They
continued to open buds for a couple of weeks. After that time I chopped
them back and watered them very sparingly for the rest of the winter. They
went into a kind of dormancy, not growing and dropping leaves. I don't know
if much light was really necessary during this period. I suspect they can
be mistreated very severely. In the spring I cut them down to one stem 6"
or so in length and set them out. They grow very fast.
Incidently, cut stem pieces root very easily. I had thrown choppings in a
compost heap and forgot about them. A month later I was retrieving some
compost and found them well rooted.
