Barb,
I don't know much about them, but I did have one when I lived in south
Florida. They are indeed a perennial down south. We had one in the
backyard. I wasn't much of a gardener then (not that I am now) but I don't
remember having to do much to them. The only thing I do remember is that
the caterpillars LOVE them (keep an eye out!)
