I wonder if the salvia you are seeking is Salvia invoucrata -- roseleaf
sage. I ahve, actually I have several, as they are extremely easy to
propagate and any piece that breaks off (they are pretty brittle) seems to
root away. It grows at least 4 or 5 feet tall and has fuzzy rose pink or
even magenta blooms. The leaves are deep green tinged with red at the
edges. It grows like crazy in my yard with regular water but little care
other than that. It's described in Betsy Clebsch's salvia book.
