I noticed that when my lupines bloomed this year, the
blooms looked somewhat stunted and the leaves were somewhat curled, but I didn't
pay much attention because I had moved them last fall and thought that was the
problem. Today, when I looked closer I saw that something is all over the
leaves (it looks shiny and sticky) and the blooms were shorter, with a
stick-like stalk at the top. There was also a somewhat large insect curled
up in one of the leaves. It looked like a cockroach. Now, I know
that I am a neophyte gardener, but even I know that it was not a roach.
Anyone have any ideas as to what it is and what I should do? If I just
leave it alone, will it return next year? I am really into organics and do
not use chemicals.
thanks
