Speaking of oriental poppies, I have had a heck of a time trying to get a
variety called Cedric Morris, which I understand is very light (but true)
pink. What I have now is supposed to be one called Pink Lassie, but it's not
really pink, more of a funny shade of peach. Does anyone know of a poppy the
color, or close to it, of a Kwanzan cherry tree? And where I can get one?
When I ordered Pink Lassie the nursery sent 3 deep orange ones by mistake;
when I called and complained, they sent 3 more plants, one of which turned
out to be this strange fellow (the other 2 were the deep orange again!). I
KNOW there are pale pink ones (I hope it is Cedric Morris) 'cause I've seen
pictures in gardening books/magazines of them and they're beautiful.
Another one I'm after is a deep dark red. I saw the real thing at
Sissinghurst Farm (next door to you-know-where) and stupidly decided not to
try to smuggle any of it back home. Does anyone know where I can get this
one too?
Any other knowledge of interesting pastel or pink varieties? Is the one
called (or described as ) watermelon a pretty shade?
Many thanks for any light shed,
Regina Moore
