Re: New garden
Congratulations. You have planted a lovely perennial garden. Perennial
means the plants will come back year after year for the most part. Some
may be a little too tender, not like where it is planted or is just
plain short-lived.
All perennials will not bloom at the same time. Some will bloom early
spring, some in early to mid summer, some in late summer into the fall.
Read about each one to see when they will likely bloom and then adjust
for the type of season you are having.
What you have planted for the most part are babies and will become
larger and more glorious each year. Some may not even bloom this year or
bloom very little. Perennial gardens are for those who practice delayed
gratification. If feel you need more bloom, buy some annuals to bring
early color and lasting color for the season. I'm a fan of mixed beds of
perennials, bulbs, annuals, biennials and even shrubs and small trees.
Relax and enjoy the growth and know each year will bring on a new
favorite. What you are impressed with this year will be bypassed by
something else next year.
