I would very much like a burgandy clematis as a go-with for my New Dawn
climber and to pick up the color in a thread-leaf Japanese maple that
is about 8-10' away. (The nursery said it was an Acer palmatum
dissectum 'Ever Red' but mine doesn't have any of the reddish-orange
color I see on other Ever Reds.) The Japanese maple gets full morning
sun and is very deeply colored from medium to very dark burgandy.
In last spring's Wayside catalog there was a clematis that I thought
that might be a good color called 'Nirobe'. However, I talked to
someone who had seen this in bloom and he said the one he saw was
really a dark, bright cherry red, rather than the burgandy I was hoping
for.
Is there such a critter as a burgandy clematis and, if so, where might
I buy one? Dearest hubby has told me to quit buying all those #@%&#
white and wimpy pink things and I was rather hoping that a nice, showy
clematis might distract him from the noticing the New Dawn addition to
the front of the house. ;).
TIA
