Re: artemesias

I have been growing Artemesia lactiflora for about 5 years now. I also grow
A. l. 'Guizho'. I have it both in full sun and part shade. The clumps
multiply quite quickly, so I usually slice off sections in the early spring
and give them to friends, sell or add to the compost heap. It also has a
tendency to flop and knowing this, I always have good intentions of staking
it early in the season. Usually, it doesn't happen and I get very unhappy
with my "stake-it-after-it-flops" strategy. Never looks good. This year,
however, I put a tomato cage around it and boy it happy. So am I! Cage is
completely hidden.

Guizho has darker stems than the straight species and as a result, is more
attractive. I just love it when it is in full bloom.
