Hi everyone,
Thanks to all who have replied to my question about Tansy. I've decided
to clear a spot in one corner of my yard for this plant. It is doing so
well in the pot that I'm wondering now when should I move it from the
pot to the ground?
Tom is zone 5a, NE Illinois mentioned a silver tansy. Do any of you
have a source for this? Would Russian Sage be a good companion to the
tansy? I'm also wondering about the yarrow that has the yellow flowers,
is that invasive as the tansy?
I guess you can tell I'm a new gardener. I've always grown annuals but
it became so cost prohibitive that I'm now working on plants that will
return every year. My house sits on about 1/4 acre of land, so I have
plenty of room for flower beds. The more flowers I have, the less grass
that has to be cut!
Any suggestions for different perennials would be appreciated. I love
all colors so would like the beds to look like rainbows. All colors,
sizes, textures, etc mixed up together is what I'm working towards.
One last question, I see zone 6a, 7, 5a, etc, how do I know exactly what
zone I'm in. By looking at the zone maps, I think I'm a zone 6, but Val
in Lexington Ky (I think) is 6a. We are only about 2.5 hours travel time
from eachother.
