RE: Another decorative perennial herb

Just a note re: St. Johns Wort...

I work at a hospital in Tacoma, and we have loads of the stuff all about
the place in beds. If you're like me, and you LOOOOOOVE yellow, you'll
heartily enjoy the blooms on this plant. I had no idea what it was
until I asked one of the gardners here. When he went on about how it
survives beautifully in poor soil, good soil, lots o'water, little
water, etc... I realized this was the perfect ground cover for a
troublesome slope that runs parallel to my driveway. the slope is about
5' deep sloping up to a height of approx 3' above the rest of the yard,
and 140' long. I wanted something that would move gracefully up hill to
the woodline, yet remain compact and soft. I watered down this horrible
hard pan soil, broke it up with a shovel so I could at least dig holes
for the plants, and I can't believe it, but these plants are happy as a
cat~!

Right now, I'm trying to figure something to place here and there
amongst the wort for a sprite of contrasting color.
