Hi Lisa.  Well they sort of are a weed.  Yes, they get huge.  
Six feet is usual, 8' is not unheard of.  The furry leaves get 
to look pretty crudy by midsummer, so I let them grow in the 
back of the border with the real tall stuff.  The icky leaves 
are covered by the plants in front.  Except for the ones in the 
front of the house, of course ... just to irritate the neighbors 
with the perfect lawns & excessive chemical applications.

Yeah, they definitely go in the "interesting plant" section.
