What a great idea!!!!!!!!! I'll have to try that next time.

This happens in nature too when the top on a spire is injured be insects or
animals... it forms a candelabra. I have seen mullein torches... they work,
but watch for burning pieces falling off. The dried stalks are sometimes
painted (various colors) and dressed up in glitter or gilding for a great tall
arrangement in a large pot on the floor. The flowers are used medicinally as
are the leaves. And they hold soil on banks that are dryish and hard to cover.
The stumps left in place continue to hold the soil and eventually other plants
will take hold! To have a yearly display... sow seeds for several years so
that there will be new rosettes and blooming stalks in any given year. Campers
sometimes use the leaves for t.p. but I bet it would be too itchy!
Blessings of the Midsummer Season!
