I did not stake mine this year but fervently wish I had as they are
crowding several of their neighbors. If you do stake, use something which
will accommodate the extreme height of the stems. If you want to do
something homemade, I suggest a strong stake at each corner of the
plant(s), then string twine from stake to stake and put more twine in to
make a grid to keep the stems from bunching up.
