RE: Sweet William

YELLOW dianthus? Is this true? I've not found any in my local Garden
Centers... Where can I get them?

My front yard is basically yellow and white, lots of different stuff,
mainly a nice butter yellow (potentilla, snap dragons, TONS and TONs and
TONS of dahlias, crushed pineapple * first lady marigolds, dianthus,
alyssum, white lobelia, coreopsis, shasta daisies, honeysuckle, canary
vine (which is now six inches tall!) and lemon daylillies. I have some
of the blue anemones and dk blue lobelia in a small area of the large
kidney shaped sloped bed (about 20' x 80') as an accent, which works
very well. The bed is ringed with many pine trees (forgive me for not
knowing my native tree names yet...).

When the yard was landscaped by the builder, what little they did...
they put in two lilac colored rhodies. Thank God they're not blooming!
The rhodies are about three feet tall, and two feet across. They are
going to be dug up as soon as I can figure out what to use as a
replacement. I saw some yellow azaleas early this spring at a charity
flower sale in Tacoma(when they were setting up for the show), but when
I got there the day of the sale, alas, they were all gone. <sigh> The
folks conducting the sale said they went within the first ten minutes...
and they were donated, so they were unable to give me any info on where
to purchase them.

In order to retain the visual balance in the yard, can anyone give me
some suggestions for the rhodie replacements? I'm moving the rhodies to
the back yard with the wild ones, and would like to place another
evergreen and pretty yellow something in their present locale. I'd
prefer something with some height, as they're right by the steps to the
front porch.

Thanks,

neens
