I have had similar problems with my campanulas the past two years! I read
that if you ever saw Campanula - Alba (campanula persicifolia?) buy it,
you'll never regret it... well... the flowers are very lovely, but they
have collapsed all over my garden each year! I found some great stakes
(tall semi-circles) which allowed me to stake late into the plants growth
cycle, but they still look pretty sad - kind of an erect mass! I have been
theorizing, (with my very limited knowledge!!!) that they aren't getting
enough direct sunlight and are trying to grow out towards the sun, when
they reach the critical angle they fall - I have tentatively offered them
to a neighbor who has a spot in full direct sunlight - if anyone has a
solution, I may renege, as I would love to keep these plants but we can't
peacefully co-exist this way .
