Gaura is one of those perennials that roots almost overnight. I use either
heel cuttings of side growths or any stems that are large and hard enough
to snap off when bent. Pinch out any buds, peel or snap off any side
growth on bottom 1/2-1" of cutting, stick in hormone, then in mist tent--
My recollection is that they root in less than 10 days.
Other plants that root as quickly are Sambucus, Phygelius, Penstemon,
Coleus,. Buddleia, Nepeta in sp., and Callicarpa.
