Re: Yellow Perennials/Woodies
neens,
I looked up Scotch Broom in the Time Life Gardening Library
on line and it says this plant is called C. scoparius
(Scotch broom). It has green stems year round and different
varieties (hybrids) can flower in colors other than yellow.
The flowers are also fragrant. In addition, some of these
plants show very tiny leaves.
On the other hand, forsythia flowers a brighter yellow in
the very early spring. The forsythia flowers have no
scent. Afterwords, the bush greens up nicely. I have seen
forsythia kept as a hedge or left as a bush, and if left
unattended it will become a monster. Forsythia blooms on
last year's growth.
I hope this has answered your question.
