my z 8 campanula seem fairly indestructible and really self seeded this
year (I pulled out heaps thinking is was some new weed). they are about
3' tall and there are plantlets everywhere that I am just digging up and
moving to some new location.
baring others suggestions, you might try and take a trowel full with
roots off one side of the plant..I have done this successfully for some
years. Occasionally the trowel cut of plants dies back but for the most
part they are fine.
I have just been moving them down my border this way but I guess you
could stuff them in a pot w/ soil and transport them.
I tend not to baby my plants too much..I figure they will keep growing
without much help from me..a bit of fertilizer or steer and water, some
deadheading and lots of bringing the blooms indoors.
I write down what I buy and if it doesn't make it, I don't try again for
a while..till I have a different place.
oh and dicentra formosa..again, a not fussy plant about moving..in fact
the more you move it the more you have of the plants! I keep leaving
roots behind and next year have even more of this sweetie.
Again, I move them whenever the need or horizontal mind fart calls for it
