I've had the same experience with hollyhocks--once rusted, it doesn't go
away. I saw a variety in the Select Seeds catalog, Alcea fictifolia, fig
leaf hollyhock, which they claim is much less prone to rust. I'm going to
try them. I miss my hollyhocks!
