Nepeta (six hills giant) maybe not

Well something strange is happening with my Nepeta.
It is blooming away and putting on a dazzling display
and I'm as happy as a lark because there are lots of
little nepeta seedlings that popped up this spring all
around the parent plant. I am having visions of a
whole mass of this lovely display all along my fence
line. This morning, it being a cool rainy day, I got
out my Well Tended Perennial Garden and was browsing
through it. I read about the Nepeta and imagine my
shock when I read that this plant is sterile and does
not produce seeds! I surely would like to know what
produced the little seedlings that are scampering all
around that part of the garden. Anyone know anything
about this?
