No - the garden centers here don't even sell the Dahlias.  Because my 
couriosity was up, yesterday I contacted one of the pop-n-pop nurseries that 
I love going to and the owner is very knowledgable about what will grow here. 
 He said that he doesn't know of one that will make it here (through our 
summer) but he said that they are always coming up with new strains that 
would one day be tolerant of our climate.  

He did mention the Dahlias from seed and said they could be used as a spring 
time or fall annual but that I was better off just planting zinnias.

I know that when he has it for sale in his nursery that he has tested it and 
researched it.....so I'll wait for him to let me know.
