Maybe you have got Nepeta x fassenii. This is raised from seed. Nepeta 'Six
Hills Giant' is normally raised from cuttings. I've got a huge clump in the
garden, it's been there for several years and no signs of seedlings. But I
wouldn't say it was impossible.
By the way, I protect my nepeta from mine and the neighbours cats by putting
an old wire hanging basket over the crown in the spring and letting it grow
thru'. They can then happily throw themselves at it but cannot damage the
crown. Has entertainment value too.
