Re: Galium odoratum--sweet woodruff

I've found that it does well in shade and tolerates dry shade but if quite
dry, gets very ratty looking by end of July and sort of peters out by
August; returns the next spring but looks pretty awful until then. Stays
nice and green if the soil stays moist. Will tolerate quite deep shade in
my climate and is happiest, I think, with high dappled shade or an hour or
so of sun...but wants soil that does not dry out to the crack stage.

It will over run any delicate or short guys, but taller, more robust
perennials and shrubs get along with it fine. I would not put a brand new,
young plant in a bed that had happy Galium o. in it....
