Pruning of jade plant

The perennials list seems to have been down all week-end, but I'll try
sending this anyway.
How drastically can I prune back my jade plant? It is currently about 30
inches high and the stems are about 2 inches in diameter at the base. I
know that with some plants, you can't prune back too far because there are
no more dormant buds on the older stems.
