Linda,
I lived on Oahu and there's a botanical garden on the island. There is
also several tours that will take you to various waterfalls, all very lush
and tropical and well worth the afternoon it takes. All in all, stay away
from anything too "touristy". I hated all of the commercialism that kept
creeping insidiously from Waikiki. Be sure and emphasize to anyone that
you take a tour from or ask that you are interested in native flora and
fauna. If you do this, you'll be able to see what these islands truly have
to offer. And don't be afraid to take your own tours. You can't get lost;
just head for the ocean!
My ex and I used to get up on Saturday mornings and take "nature" tours on
bikes. We saw the best stuff this way.
