Yes, it's corny, but since a recent topic was 'Stella', I thought some of
you might be interested in this bit of fluff.

"ODE TO STELLA'
(or IF IT'S BLOOMING IN OCTOBER,
IT'S PROBABLY YELLOW)
by Dot Hanks and Dot Sumners - (Daylily Dots) E-mail robin
We Alabama Daylily Dots with husbands in tow,
Headed north, leaf peeping to go.
Our yards were dry and all the scapes were dead
Little did we know a tour of Stella was ahead.
First was Tennessee - where we stopped for rest,
Right out front was Stella looking her best.
In Georgia not a single belle did we meet,
But Stella bloomed on every street.
Then North Carolina with mountains up and down,
We found Stella in every little town.
Virginia has beautiful green rolling hills,
And many flower beds from which Stella spills.
In West Virginia they mine for coal,
There was Stella bright as gold.
In Maryland we had crab cake for lunch,
We caught Stella blooming bunch after bunch.
In Philadelphia where Freedom's bell first rang,
>From under every canon and monument Stella sprang.
On New York's Mountain peaks we saw our first snow,
Cold Stella was there still putting on a show.
We stopped in Connecticut to visit a friend,
Stella by the door saying “come in“.
We braved the Big Dig in Boston, Mass.,
On the Common Stella bloomed in the grass.
In the forest of New Hampshire we saw moose,
Stella was wild and on the loose.
Vermont has syrup and the sugar maple,
Sweet Stella is clearly the daylily staple.
Niagara Falls Canada has a famous floral clock,
And time for Stella snug by a rock,
Back to the United States headed home,
Stella in Ohio was really welcome.
Indiana has the well known Five Hundred race,
Fast blooming Stella sets the pace.
Race horses were every where in Kentucky,
And golden Stella for the lucky.
It's October and the daylily season is late,
No matter - we found Stella in every Eastern state.
The blossoms ranged from gold to yellow,
Whatever the color it was all Stella.
