Re: Weather news

Well, sad to say but the daff flowers are likely history. Anything
like Bloodroot, just starting top poke up a nose would be amply
protected by the snow. Anything whose buds are just about ready to
burst will suffer. The daffs won't be hurt as far as bulbs or even
foliage are concerned, although leaf ends could burn....but blooms
are not going to be worth much when all thaws out :-( Primroses, if
under the snow, may come out just fine. Snowdrops will weather snow
just fine and emerge as they went under. Hellebores in bloom will
also be OK.

I had this sinking feeling that Ma Nature was going to pull a good
one when she turned on the heat way too soon...

Mid-Atlantic is cooling down with rain, but no real freezes (maybe in
mountain areas)...but I fully expect at least one more hard one, if
not more before March is gone. In like a lamb - out like a lion as
the old saying goes.

Local weather stations here have it that this has been the warmest
winter throughout the country since records were kept.....we haven't
set records here, but it's been a mild one except for a few weeks and
a pile of snow. Do not like it to warm up too early.
