Marge is right that deer will eat almost anything if hungry, I have problems
with dear in the fall and winter and spring -- they feed on my Tiarella,
Heucherella and coral bells, in the summer they will eat my Hosta 'Honeybell'
and my Phlox.
This year it looks like they got around 400 of my Tiarella, I would not mind
if they eat off the foliage but they pull the plants up out of the ground.
Right now I have wood pallets over the remaining plants and that has keep the
deer from eating as many. Next fall and winter I am keeping them under a
tarp.
