I do have a very tall deer fence - 8 feet I think, but that did not keep
them out. Last year I took wire and strung it out about 4 feet from the
fence and then tied yellow plastic to it. They cannot jump two obstacles.
It was relatively good - they only got in a couple of times. Unfortunately,
they have already visited and eaten the ends of my hydrangeas (does that
mean I won't have flowers again this year?) and the emerging tulips. Last
year they made it in early August, they ate my tomatoes, green beans, and
any daylilies that hadn;t bloomed yet.
I find that Bobbex is pretty effecive - you just have to apply it ALL the
time on the new growth. They barely touched my hosta last year. If you
don't apply it to new growth, they chomp away.
