I'm not sure I'm following this thread completely correctly, but the improvement of Brookside to Johnson is length of flowering -- it practically never quits all season, whereas Johnson blooms only once. Yes, it gets large, but I just use small cages around them and it keeps their foliage out of the dirt as well as the flowers.

Graham, what is the growth habit of the TRUE 'Brookside'? Mine performs much
in duplicate of 'Johnsons Blue' ....wildly.
Hard to understand why a wholesaler would label this as the 'improved'.
On second thought, anything to promote sales.
