I haven't been too interested in DIY garden programs and can comment that
their TV program schedules posted on their website are not accurate. Using
the EST schedules those posted never appear on our EST DIY channel.
However, do not give up on Proven Winners. This company does not grow or
sell plants. I also read the pro-magazine articles on Proven and this
company along with several other were profiled. Proven is the Canadian one,
I think, and a different concept that other wellknowns as Monrovia.
Proven is a testing and marketing group which has worldwide access to new
plants bringing the plants to growers and assisting retailers with publicity.
They are responsible for many new plants of interest to all gardeners.
Several American companies are formed to do exactly the same thing. Here is
a link:

Admittedly this is publicity link but if you wish to search further, many
respected names in horticulture are part of this organization. It is
intended that if you see this name on a plant tag, you may have also read or
heard of the success of the plant and feel you know what you are purchasing.
If our Josh is part of this plan, he may or may not be limited to their
introductions but they are newest and the best plants of recent introduction.
Not by any means all the new plants but a very good selection of those we
are going to see in North America.
I can't find the magazine article tonight but will look around for it and see
if they mention sponsoring a DIY program. Think also that if this company or
any combination of plant people want to get on TV they must have channels who
will host them.
I was in Boston, at the show, the last two days and saw Roger Swain. I also
picked up a schedule of where and when he will be appearing. It seems they
have tried to film a quality horticultural show and will be syndicated. No
channel or local station, at this time, wants it. It may turn up in your
area as it will be in mine on a local channel some awful hour before golf or
football and not be promoted. So far they are only in four markets. Some
programs have been taped, they are taped at Weston Nurseries in Mass., but
the distribution is not wide at this time. BTW, Swain has a Ph.D., not in a
horticultural area but in the study of South American ants.
So if you can get Proven Winners behind you, you might get on a cable
channel. Horticultural programs that deliver real information, not the oft
repeated HGTV types, are not truly wanted, I guess.
