Could be, I think. Like I said, mine is more like 6' or so, but it
is in part shade, too. Last year, it shot up to 10' or so and fell
over at the 5' mark - dunno why. In your border, which I assume is
mostly sunny from the plants in it, I should think 8' is possible -
probably not the first year, tho'. Seems to me mine put out like 1
or 2 stems the first year and then increased stem count as time
passed. Stems are very bamboo-like; hollow and jointed, but not
quite as stiff.
Will be most interested to hear what you have to report about it come
end of season.
